I am a Licensed Clinical Neuropsychologist deeply committed to cultural diversity. I have recently completed my postdoctoral training in Neuropsychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami, Florida under the supervision and mentorship of Dr. Rene Hernandez-Cardenache. Being culturally sensitive is crucial to understand psychopathology and how each individual cope with it. While primary a clinician in daily clinical practice, my research interests are aimed at delineating the neuropsychological correlates in a diverse adult and neuropediatric population, including individuals with MCI, Cerebrovascular Disease, Cancer patients, Adult and Pediatric ADHD, Autism, Specific Learning Disorders, elderly individuals, and chronic mental health patients with comorbid substance abuse disorders. I am mindful that consuming and conducting research is relevant to the good standard of clinical practice. My esteem for my profession facilitates my ability to apply constructive feedback from colleagues, professors, and supervisors, and to be mindful about the impact of my clinical interventions with my patients. I perceive psychotherapy as a process of teamwork, sharing of power, and of ensuring that clients have a sense of hope. There is no single way to live one’s life and, as a clinician, I respect when my patients believe they are sufficiently “on-track.” I am looking forward to continue growing as a clinician, researcher, academic, and as a better human being.
